Bloomfield Hills, MI – Alliance Senior Care announced today Dina Hurnevich its Director, is joining the International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (ICCDP) as a CMDCP® Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional®.

ICCDP collaborated with the Center for Applied Research in Dementia and Dr. Cameron Camp to bring a fantastic person-centered Montessori course designed for health care professionals working with older adults who have a diagnosis of dementia.  A CMDCP (Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional) is trained in applying the Montessori Methods to persons that are caring for individuals with Dementia.

Dina Hurnevich and Alliance Senior Care have a common mission with the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. That is “to improve the quality of life of persons with dementia and related disorders, by enabling persons with dementia to engage in meaningful, productive activity and to fulfill meaningful social roles within their families and communities.”  “We strive to change attitudes and beliefs by enabling persons with dementia to be treated with respect and dignity, and to continue living happy, productive and fulfilling lives as long as possible.” The CMDCP training is just one more way to make the vision a reality for more individuals that have Dementia.

“We are beginning to implement the Montessori method into our caregiver training as well as the individualized client care plans,” says Dina Hurnevich.  “I am always looking for ways that we can improve the quality of life of our clients as well as their families.”  This is just one more reason that the in-home care provided by Alliance Senior Care is truly a different breed of home care, it is integrated care.  Our Integrated Wellness Program continues to include cognitive, physical and social activities on each visit.  This is important for all of our clients, not just those with Dementia.  We are focused on the overall wellness of our clients, rather than just their immediate needs,” says Dina Hurnevich, Director and Owner.
